MISSING
Unfortunately, there are cases of disappearance of our loved ones, or even worse, children.
The survey showed that 80% of those who found themselves in these situations were confused and did not know what to do.
Should they wait for a while? Where to go and when? What are the ways and means to help find the person?
Here are the instructions and tips
Rule one - the search must begin immediately!
In today's world, it is very difficult to hide, everyone has a certain routine, social connections and communications. If it is not possible to establish a person's whereabouts and it is impossible to contact them for more than 30 minutes (depending on the circumstances, the time may vary) after they should have been in a certain place and/or contacted (depending on the circumstances), it is necessary to start searching. According to statistics, if you start an active search for a person within the first 24 hours of his or her disappearance, the chance of finding him or her alive is more than 90%, depending on the circumstances of the disappearance. In case of abduction, everything can be calculated in hours.
If you decide to start an active search, contact the police immediately.
The erroneous Soviet belief that a person will be searched for after three days of his or her absence should be erased from your memory. You should actively demand that the police perform their duties. Coordinate all your further independent search efforts and activities with the police, exchange information, and help each other. Keep in constant contact with the person in charge of the search. Ask the police to analyse and monitor the data from the video cameras they have access to. Provide the police with the mobile phone number and, if possible, the IMEI of the missing person's mobile phone and request that they use technical means to search for the location of the mobile phone. If you have relevant data or access to the missing person's accounts, try using Google or Apple services.
Do not be shy and involve ALL your relatives, friends, acquaintances, neighbours, colleagues in the search, if possible.
Actively use social media for the search and ask everyone you know to do so. The local information space should be filled with information about the disappearance, photographs of the missing person, descriptions of the signs and circumstances of the disappearance. Involve local media, TV channels, and journalists in the search.

What you can do yourself if the police do not or have not yet done so.
Investigate the entire possible route of the missing person, establish the last place where he or she was seen, and talk to possible witnesses. Along the established route, identify other possible witnesses (sellers, cashiers, security guards, parking attendants, cleaners, drivers, etc.), video cameras, dashboard cameras in private cars. Try to obtain information from video cameras/video recorders yourself, and if you fail, report your findings to the police. It is important to work promptly in this area, as the safety of information on the servers of the owners of video cameras usually does not exceed 7 days. And human situational memory has a very limited resource. For example, if you ask a bus station cashier if he or she has seen the missing person and present a photograph within a few days after the cashier could have seen him or her, you can hope for a positive result. But if you come to the same person with such a request after a few weeks have passed, you may get the opposite result.
Contact volunteer search organisations.
They have well-promoted social media resources and many volunteer supporters across the country who can be of assistance.
Contact private investigators.
The professional actions that should be performed by police officers are not always performed in a timely manner. Very often, there is not enough time to do everything yourself. Therefore, in difficult cases, you will need professional help. If the case is related to a disappearance in other countries or to a missing person crossing the border, you will definitely need the help of investigators. Interstate official red tape makes it impossible for law enforcement agencies to cooperate promptly in the interests of an individual citizen. Professional investigators work as a team, which, if necessary, promptly involves their colleagues in other countries of the world in the search, with the involvement of international organisations.
In order to facilitate the search for a person in case of his or her disappearance or to establish his or her location in case of relevant doubts, I advise you to use all possible means provided by mobile operators and developers of mobile applications for smartphones as services. With the help of which you can track the location of a child, an elderly person or a patient online, etc. Active access to the GPS services of the person you care about gives you a significant advantage in the fight for their life and health in critical situations.
And finally, as Mykola Lutsenko used to say, ‘Let problems and adversity not make your life difficult, be happy and be healthy!’
